4-20-23 THOUGHTS

We studied the book of Micah in our class last evening.  A significant prophecy is found in Micah chapter 4.  With much figurative language, the coming of Messiah, and the establishment of the Church is foretold.  The peace is not physical, but the PEACE bought by the blood of Jesus, God’s lamb.  A multitude of the heavenly host sang “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”  Luke 2:14   The word of the Lord went forth from Jerusalem as Peter preached the sermon of Acts chapter 2.  In John 1:14, “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”  Luke 17:21b “the kingdom of God is within you.”  1Cor 15:24-26   “then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. 25  For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.  26  The last enemy that will be abolished is death.”

Micah 4:1-7   And it will come about in the last days That the mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains. It will be raised above the hills, And the peoples will stream to it.  2  Many nations will come and say, "Come and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD And to the house of the God of Jacob, That He may teach us about His ways And that we may walk in His paths." For from Zion will go forth the law, Even the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 3  And He will judge between many peoples And render decisions for mighty, distant nations. Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they train for war. 4  Each of them will sit under his vine And under his fig tree, With no one to make them afraid, For the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken. 5  Though all the peoples walk Each in the name of his god, As for us, we will walk In the name of the LORD our God forever and ever. 6  "In that day," declares the LORD, "I will assemble the lame And gather the outcasts, Even those whom I have afflicted. 7  "I will make the lame a remnant And the outcasts a strong nation, And the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion From now on and forever.

My Prayer:
Thank You ,O Lord, for the way You have brought salvation to us.  The picture of a suffering Savior preached from the beginning is so attractive to us.  Your love and the cost of that love, in one God/man on one pitiful cross, is nothing short of awesome.  You are God come to us in abundant love, and we thank You and praise You.  Help us to be the lovers we see in You, O Lord.  Please keep saving us in the name of Jesus,    Amen.
